Fully Customizable Firewall???

Recommended Posts

They sure look like great firewall, but they are still app based. Maybe I baddly expressed my need, I whant a firewall port based, meaning that he show if the port is open/close and accept/refuse request and allow you to change if they are open/close and if they accept/refuse communication, not if x app can access the net.

Nope, its only an accept/refuse request that there is, I just check every firewall that was said, he don't tell me if port are open/close and allow me to close them, he accept/refuse request so ppl think they are close, but he make them stealth so they are still open. I'm speaking of open/close like ipchains in linux do.

either you are looking in wrong places or don't know what you are doing, but you can open/close specific ports in NIS/NPF and Conseal firewall.

Sygate is app based but you can open and close ports

Checkpoint is a good firewall and does the stuff you want (expensive)

This is slightly off-topic, but that explains why they haven't updated TPF in about a year now, and I've been visiting their page once every few weeks to download a new version!

NIS does exactly what you want to do.

Even if it's based on app requests, you can easily ask for a specific port to be opened or closed.

These options are in advanced options

You can do it in Tiny Kerio as well. I think he just does not know what he is doing.

zonealarm good??? oh boy! by the way, I use blackice for now and both grc, norton and sygate scan myself as full stealth, not scannable and no open port, no trojan horse scan risk, nothing, fully stealth.

Heh and why exactly do you say that?

Next time you want to insult someone, put some kinda info / argue some points to back it up.

If it was on the basis of my grc comment, I'll say one thing: Any one who believes what Steve says is a gulible fool with no real understanding of the internet, security concepts, related protocols, and the people they are trying to defend them selfs against.
