Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 17, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted March 17, 2004 I have the same issues even in 10.3.3timdorr what other apps do you use frequently? I am starting to think there is an issue with apple's webkit I've normally got Adium, Mail.app, NetNewsWire and often Terminal.app open. I've also got APE running with ShapeShifter (I'm on the beta team, so I've been having this across a multitude of versions of SS) and DeMetalifizer running. That's about it. Tiger.Girl
Have you guys who are still having problems, reboot, repair permissions and reboot again? Because my issues did not go away until I did that after the 10.3.3 update. yes it did greatly improve performance safari still beachballs but far less often timdorr, some of the apps you listed use the webkit and are the same types of things i run have you tried running safari without any of the webkit apps open? do you notice a difference? Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 18, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted March 18, 2004 I'll have to try sometime, but I generally rely on Mail.app to be open most of the time.
Southern Patriot
This is going to tick off some of you with fast machines, but Safari runs just fine on my Pismo! No beachballing at all, and only a minor lag when I'm typing rather fast (about 45-60 wpm). This is with a couple of other programs running (mainly Yahoo Messenger and Thoth). edit: oops, I need to update my sig, as I'm now running 10.3.3 (but Safari has been the same on 10.3.2 as well). Tim Dorr Veteran Posted March 18, 2004 Author Veteran Share Posted March 18, 2004 I'm fine when typing. It runs perfectly fast, but it's these beachballings that are what's ****ing me off...
Callaway
Followed the above instructions, still seems just as slow. Never beachballed on me before or after the update, but still slow :( G4 733 768mb Ram I second the swift kick in the pants...Reminds me of using Netscape on a Windows box.
