Zetter
This is one reason why lindows is not a favoured distro and must also be the reason how they afford to give so many free copies with promo codes
markwolfe Veteran Posted March 14, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 14, 2004 With Lindows, you have made a decision to pay for the service of having someone package, integrate and test software applications for you. If you come from the Windows world, it is sort of the same thing. There is nothing stopping you from installing software yourself. You will need the sources, and need to work out the dependencies yourself. But, Lindows is 100% Linux under the hood, and the freedom (as always) is yours. If you prefer free (as in 'beer'), there are plenty of distros that meet this requirement. revvo
Lindows blows. See it rhymes for a reason. Basically, you're paying for technical support and packages provided by the company. You get better technical support from google than idiots getting paid for playing Solitaire on their PC.... I have my share of stories where I've had to face technicians and laugh at their ignorance.
