Aaron P
LindowsOS is a Linux OS, that runs a customized version of WINE, which wil allow it to run a number of Windows applications, specifically targeting productivity apps. It looks a lot like Windows so that users can be familiar with the desktop.
Zombie9920
And for the $99 that the author of Lindows asks for, you can have an upgrade copy of Windows XP Home Edition(which will be garanteed to run alot more Windows based apps than Lindows can). BTW, Lindows looks worse than Windows 98 from the screenies I have seen of it. I don't know who in the heck is actually going to buy Lindows....Linux gurus use Linux to get away from the Windows interface and they can download practically any distro of Linux for free. Most Windows users would look at Lindows and think WTF is this stuff? Why would I want to run a Windows immitation if I can have a better looking version of the real deal for the same price? Truthfully I think Lindows will be a lost cause. Everybody familiar with Linux already knows that there is no way in hell that Wine is going to run 90% of the Windows apps correctly. It would make much more sense to download Mandrake 8 and download Wine than it would make to buy Lindows if you want to use the Linux kernel. nomis_nehc
Lindows biggest advantage is that it's able to run BOTH Windows and Linux software. I got my copy couple days ago, but haven't been bothered to try it since reviews hasn't been so positive.
