Scootersing
I have downloaded Winex3.3, and have "installed" it. But when i tryed to run the file Winexsetup, then i get a messageboard with a message that i have to log off root"super user" and become a normal user, because the program does not support "super user mode" yet. The only problem is that when i am a normal user and tryes to run the file again, i get permission denied, So what should i do! And the file was installed to another place then what the installation instruction on www.transgaming.com said the would. Scootersing
UKer
If you've access to Transgamer's downloads you should be able to get a package called 'Point2Play', this will install WineX and games for you, make sure you read the info on the website for individual games (and in the readme) as this will help you with known problems (and there are loads!). BTW once you've installed just type 'Point2Play' (caps inc.) and have your transgamer login details ready, and make sure you're online.
Scootersing
Another problem! This version of Winex is not from the main internett site, it`s a duplicate from another site. (I don`t now if it is a legal version of the program)!. So i only got a "Rpm" file, that i "installed" in the computer! I don`t see the "winexsetup" file in the graphical desktop, but in the "consol" i see it when i press "w" and then press Tab. I wonder why? Daem0hn
i was a little dubious about purcahsing winex, but in the end i deceided to, and since then i have been playing windwos games on linux nice and easy, you should do the same, its not like its expensive or anything
Scootersing
Yeah! I just wonder how i am supposed to buy Winex from Norway? (I think it would get expensive, through Taxes and and import fees)! That is why i Downloaded a (duplicate) of Winex, and because it is just a test installation of Linux(schoolproject, yet)! I hoped u all could tell me how to install\download Winex from a different place, or something like that? But after testing out Linux, i am really thinking about using Linux instead of Windows! markwolfe Veteran Posted March 15, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 15, 2004 Remember, Linux is "free" as in "libre". Not necessarily "free" as in "gratis". And most apps that cost money are "affordable" as in "clearance sale" Plus, I think you are wanting "wine" to run basic Windows programs. WineX is for playing games. Scootersing Its a subscription, so you wont get any trouble with taxes or tolls. Costs 6 bucks a month or something. The permission denied is logically enough a permission problem. getting winex from transgaming should fix it, if you dont know how to chmod properly. you shouldnt really need the winexsetup, try running a supported game with "winex3 game.exe". edit: 60$ for a full year. MrA
You can get WineX sources from the transgaming CVS for free. It doesn't come with any support or Point2Play, but it's free and legal.
