Who has the most posts?

Recommended Posts

Remember boyz, it's all about quality not quantity.

Yeah but if all your posts or most of them are quality then your quanitity should be spoken for!

I only opened that list to see who was the top poster but frankly I have no idea what position I am. I am not really interested, as said before quality over quantity. :)

I wouldn't mind being at the top though.

I agree.? I think disabling the post counter will up the quality of posts and decrease the amount of spam.? The idea of giving a user "points" would be a good system to show who is actually trying to help.

We have a post count at my site (and stars assigned at various levels), but we've taken a couple of what I think are unique steps. First, we've implemented a "title" or "designation" for quality posters. For example, "Forum Advisor", "Associate Forum Advisor", etc. This is to help identify those members who are not on staff but whose posts are always helpful and intelligent. We also actively discourage spam in all forms. If someone posts a bunch of nonsense or continually responds to requests for help with incorrect, confusing, or simply stupid answers, he or she is warned. If necessary there is a second warning and the threat of banning. If the practice continues the individual is eventually banned.

While we encourage a free flow and exchange of information and an informal friendly atmosphere, we never lose site of the fact that we are, first and foremost, a site where people come for help with their computing problems. We do have a couple of forums for "off topic" discussions - but we insist that's where such conversations and posts stay. I believe that's one reason we've been fortunate to receive so many mentions and recommendations from the major media outlets. But hey - every site is different and every site has its own "flavor" and culture. Neowin is certainly unique in the huge volume and broad variety of topics and members. I enjoy the change of pace here and I enjoy trying to contribute in some way whenever possible. But I must admit that some of the, ummmm, shall I say "less than helpful" posts in some threads do make it a bit frustrating at times.;);)

Neowin has a "Contributor" Group. ;)

Ahh - thanks :) . Don't recall seeing anyone with that designation yet and I've noticed some pretty knowledgeable and helpful folks.

Yeah, but ATM no one is part of it. Flish and raptor got upped to mods.

I think that the admins should be more loose on the Contributor status.. They should give it to anyone whose been a regular and helps out significantly. AFAIK, the Contributor group doesnt get any special permissions, but I'm sure people would be proud to show off their contributor status  kind of like those boy scout badges...
