Is it worth upgrading?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for comments from people who have upgraded their macs with new processors

I'm thinking of upping my G4 400 to a Sonnet or Powerlogix 1ghz.

Right now my Mac works great for E-Mail and playing music but it lags far behind my

desktop PC "Athlon 3000xp,Nforce2,Radeon9600xt"

I dont wanna play games on my mac(see above) I just want it to run Photoshop,Illustrator

Corel and other graphics apps.

What do you think.? Is it worth the 300-400 bucks to upgrade or should I sell the whole deal

and just buy a iBook?

Howcome you dont just use your pc for both? ...If I were you, I'd just spend more money on my PC and run everything... just me though ;)

I use my MAC for stuff I dont want lose. It seems I'm doing a reformat on my PC

every three months or so just to keep my performance up to max.

Plus all my graphics software is for my MAC. I'm not going to go out and buy

PC versions when I already own them for OSX..

Like I said before my pc is a pure gaming machine tweaked as much as I can and my mac is the workhorse.

Should I put the horse to pasture?

Where in his post did he mention anything about getting rid of his Mac for a pc? If you can't be helpful, why bother posting.

Upgrading your Mac would be a better option vs an iBook. Unless you absolutely need the mobility of it, there's no reason to buy a laptop.

i agree i 've had my powerbook for about 7 month now and never had to reinstall to keep then performance up. Now w/ my pc thats an other story . i bet i've reinstalled about 3 or 4 times in the last 7 months but i don't lose every thing cuz i have a 200GB give backup HD i save everything on.

Anyways back to the question at had if i were u i'd sell the whole thing and get an i book g3 800 if ur not looking to spend that much!!!
