Si Veteran Posted March 16, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 16, 2004 Is there any way to slipstream the 10.3.3 update into an install disc ala windows? Just curious :p
NeoMayhem
Would be sweet if you could, I would love to do this even though I have never had to reinstall OS X.
aristotle-dude
I don't know about slipstreaming but Apple does provide combo updates shortly after the intial update release to allow users to upgrade from 10.3 to 10.3.3 directly.
wtmcgee
it seems there has to be a way, as when you buy a new mac, often it comes with the latest version of the OS on disk. who knows ...
mr_daemon
if you are Unix-ish, you could install your base system, update then dd+gzip the output to a file or a loopback device, which could next be burned to cd. But how to practically _install_ it... hmmm. I think in the end, with this method, you'd end up wasting way too much time which could have been spent installing the darned patch -- which will be a combo update with mac OS 10.3.5 by the time you need to reformat your Mac -- really. Unix never gets dirty if you take good care of it, baby. That also applies to OS X. The lack of registry is one of the primary causes of this.
