aaron901
i have a 120GB LaCie firewire harddrive which i'd like to share between my Mac and PC. on Windows, it only lets me to format the drive to NTFS, which i just did, the problem is the drive can only be read but not written on my Mac. and on my Mac, it lets me format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Mac OS Extended, UNIX file system, and Free Space. what should i do to make the drive readable and writable on both platforms? macman87
fat32? i no mac os x can read and write on fat 32 hard drives
sebaz
i think FAT32 will do it, since osx can read fat (as in the ipod), but FAT32 is better off since its a bigger drive.
pizza
Drive is too big to be formatted as FAT32. I think the only solution will be to use a 3rd party driver for Windows that'll let you read Mac formatted drives... I think theres one called "macdrive"
TiBook
Just format it hfs+ and buy macdrive for the pcs :-) That's what I'm currently doing with my 160GB firewire drive... works great.
NeoMayhem
The best method I have seen is to use the Ext2 filesystem, then you can use it on Windows (with drivers) OS X (with an extension) and Linux.
