eldiablo
i'm usin XP so does that mean that all the ppl who post screenshots of their desktops with HUGE ICONS have very ugly start menus as a result???

manyk
OK, you know you CAN select small icons in the start menu. And yes, if you select that option they will be 16x16 ... I think. lol. BUT, you CAN do this neat little trick ... this is a little time consuming keep in mind. It's also laborious work. Let's say for example you are using 48x48 pixel icons [default large], this will work for any size if you follow what I'm about to say. Whip out your trusty Icon Editor and/or icon extractor. Edit the 48x48 icon so that the size is still 48x48, BUT only put in say a 32x32 pixel icon on that space. So essentially, you have a 32x32 icon on a 48x48 transparent area. Now, I KNOW this is going to leave 16 pixels of blank space, BUT, at least you have a smaller icon in you Start Menu or Taskbar, or wherever you want smaller icons. Of course, with this, you have to manually assign icons to things. but, think of the possibilities!! Just my 2 pennies.
