Remote Acess take 2

Recommended Posts

I can connect to my windows xp pro machine from my mac but not to my mac from my PC. I know it's the right Ip and every time I try to connect it says "The Client couldn't connect to the remote computer" What do I need to turn on in OS X to get remote sharing? and any other ideas.

it works np with my xp pro machine. Make sure that in system properties, in the Remote tab, you have checked the Allow users to connect remotely to this computer

You are using the CLIENT for Remote Desktop (Terminal Server), you need a SERVER to connect to WITH a CLIENT.

VNC works great from Win > Mac and Mac > Win.

MS Remote Desktop Client for OS X works great. I use it at work when I travel with my pBook and have to connect to my workstation at the office.

Make sure your machines can ping each other. If it does not work with the Netbios name of the XP machine, try it with an IP address. Also make sure that you are setup correctly on the XP machine. I assume that you're running XP Pro right? XP home does not include Remote Desktop functionality. If that is the case, you will have to go with VNC.
