iBook G4 1.5 Speed Bump

Recommended Posts

There is expected to be a new iBook released this summer with the new 7447A G4 chipset :-) With no sign that there will be a Powerbook speed bump. Anyone think that this will damage the G4 Powerbook sales, or wether the G5 Powerbook will be following very soon after the new iBook?

It makes sense tho, to properly compete Apple need a faster consumer iBook model out there, followed closely by a beefed up 2.0 ghz business Powerbook. Be a bit stupid to update the Powerbook to a 1.5 when its already at a 1.33, but then if your going to have a 2ghz model why would anyone buy the iBook when it lags behind so badly at 800mhz?

It doesn't make sense at all. Apple strategy is that you need to buy something with Power in the name if you want good speed. Before the iBooks are updated, the PowerBooks have to be updated. And people would buy the 800Mhz iBook because it costs hundreds less than a 12" PowerBook.
