rsjagtia
Ok hey guys, I've finally decided to give Linux a go ... for now dual booting with windows. So i fired up partiion magic and got myself a 5 gig a linux ext 3 partition set up and i installed Lycoris. Well guess what .. its crap. Its slow as heck and is reatrded pretty much. So i've now decided to go with SUsE. now i got the 21 MB .iso file burn for the FTP install but i need to load a network module. Well the tragedy is that my network card is not located on the Kernel install. So how do i load a module in the setup for my card assuming i get a driver or something like that? I've searched on google, Suse Websites everywhere.. no answer yet. So i was wondering if any of ya cud help me out. Thanks alot and appreciate it guys! AmpCoder
You can check EasyLinuxGuide or LinuxISO for some guides/help with installing Suse.
markwolfe Veteran Posted March 21, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 21, 2004 I think that we would need to know the model of your NIC, and probably the chipset. Also, what does SuSE support? Do they have a listing (online, or from the install screens)?
rsjagtia
Wow that was a fast response.. thanks. Ok i'm sorry i dont have screens. I checked those websites but i cudnt find help on this particular problem. My NIC is Linksys NC100 Fast Ethernet Adapter. All it says in the installation is a bunch of NIC's but mine isn't listed. Believe it or not i tried every one of em and it fails to load the module:(. Thanks.
markwolfe Veteran Posted March 21, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 21, 2004 What I could find on a few sites is that this particular item has been rebranded at least once, and that it uses the tulip drivers (hope that was an option for you). One of the pertinent links is here: http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/showproduct.php?product=52 If one of your options was for tulip, and it didn't work, then you may have a settings or connection issue, as the hardware should work.... kongit
didn't detect my card either and I couldn't get it to work. :( Oh well I was just going to try out suse, probably wasn't going to keep it long.
