Installing Firefox without root

Recommended Posts

I want to install Firefox on a RH9 computer that I don't have root access on. Is there any way I can install it? Thanks.

I downloaded the FireFox binaries and run the launching script from my home directory. FireFox doesn't even have an installer. It will run fine from the user's home directory.

exactly what I was thinking when I read the title of this...

linux firefox has no installer (unless they JUST made one). The folder method's a lot more practical even on windows systems (though they now have a windows installer)

Except that it doesn't integrate into the debian menu system so when I switch to fluxbox or something then I can't launch firefox unless I open the shell first (and even then I have to keep the shell open while it is running).

I'm sure that eventually FireFox will make it's way into the apt-get system like Mozilla.

Hm, I'm not sure why I thought I couldnt just run it.. *shrug*

One more question... Where is the icon located for firefox?

There is an icons subfolder with 2 icons in there (big and little).
