Need to find a way to "fast-switch" screen resolution

Recommended Posts

I want to be able to use this with either a Registry file or a system command thru the control panel, but i dont know the shortcuts.

I have already made the Open Displays... dialog work.

PS: A little FYI: This is an ObjectBar theme i am finishing up for distro...it has ALL the icons and menus, and almost completely duplicates the Mac OS X appearance. Once i have the info i need, I will realease it at my site.

C'mon...

With all the people in here who res-hack and reg-edit their machines to death, no one has replied? Some one has to know...I used to have a source for it, but the link I had was from a xoom.com addy, and any NON-NOOB would know about those pages...

Hi there, made my own one cos XP is damn annoying in the way it doesn't change resolutions.

Simply put this program in your StartUp folder (on the start menu) with the following command line:

ChangeRes.exe 1024x768

The above command would change the resolution to 1024x 768, then exit.

ChangeRes.exe 1280x1024

This command would change the resolution to 1280x1024. If you type an invalid resolution, or one that your monitor cannot handle, the program will display an error message, and exit.

Get it here: Download ChangeRes

If you don't trust me, and would like to compile the program for yourself, click below for the source code

Enjoy!

Duckie: Yeh, thats fine, please do so :) , but could you link to it, rather than hosting it? (that way, if someone finds any bugs, I can update it, without having to send you the latest version). And feel free to include the source code so people can recompile it etc to suit their needs

XPFreakus: regarding refresh freq. I tested it, but was unable to get it working :(

You can get the test version Here (doesn't seem to change refresh - everything else works)
