christracy
im trying to find out if there is an option in finder, like in windows, that allows jpgs to be opened by a particular program. in this case the program is photoshop and she wants to open all of her jpegs in photoshop instead of the software that came with the scanner she is using. any help would be appreciated! thanks :)
Diffused Mind
Single click file, hit Command(Apple) - I, go to the Open With arrow, and browse to the application. Either that, or add Photoshop to the Dock and drag the JPEG there to open it with Photoshop.

christracy
i can guess the feeling because, she is having the same adjustment issues and i know i am being her "tech support." lol. she got her powerbook for school (artsy girl) and all they use are macs. i do have one more question and im not sure if its against the rules to ask but what is p2p of choice for macs? i have no clue and she definitely has no clue. thanks to you both again, neowin is better than tech support because of the quick answers! the evn show
My understanding is that something called "Poisoned" is the application of choice. Someone posted a website that had a whole whack of P2P information specific to mac os systems. I'm sure googling for "mac p2p" would turn up something. Also try searching the reviews over on versiontracker.com for programs that show up when you search for P2P. I'm not really a big fan of the "shady" peer to peer networks so I can't offer much more information. One I do like is freenet because it reminds me very much of the early-days of the internet: you can publish anything you want and it's anonymous. It's inappropriate for downloading applications, movies, and that sort of thing because it's PAINFULLY SLOW, but if you're into free expression it is _the place_ to go. There are a lot of ethical issues surrounding the project (ie: terrorists in north korea can use it as well as pro-democracy activists in china). Check it out at: http://freenet.sourceforge.net/ I'm sure someone here will be able to provide you exacting information soon. And I know you only ask because you want to download Linux ISOs, and MP3s of the OpenBSD songs ;)

Or maybe the kid is on something potent. Either way, good info though ;)

Either way, good info though ;) I'm thinking you didn't read the post right above evn's, lol. Poisoned - Works with a bunch of p2p networks including Kazaa. Acquisition - Works with Gnuntella network. Probably the fastest, most well built p2p application for Mac, but it's shareware and costs $15 for a license. ACQ lite - Pretty much the same as Acquisition but free. Mac p2p - The site evn was talking about that pretty much has just about every piece of information on p2p for the Mac available.
