Mac Download

My understanding is that something called "Poisoned" is the application of choice.

Someone posted a website that had a whole whack of P2P information specific to mac os systems. I'm sure googling for "mac p2p" would turn up something. Also try searching the reviews over on versiontracker.com for programs that show up when you search for P2P.

I'm not really a big fan of the "shady" peer to peer networks so I can't offer much more information. One I do like is freenet because it reminds me very much of the early-days of the internet: you can publish anything you want and it's anonymous. It's inappropriate for downloading applications, movies, and that sort of thing because it's PAINFULLY SLOW, but if you're into free expression it is _the place_ to go. There are a lot of ethical issues surrounding the project (ie: terrorists in north korea can use it as well as pro-democracy activists in china). Check it out at:

http://freenet.sourceforge.net/

I'm sure someone here will be able to provide you exacting information soon.

And I know you only ask because you want to download Linux ISOs, and MP3s of the OpenBSD songs

I use a combination of Acquisition and Poisoned for my p2p needs. I use Acquisition because of its sheer elegance, but if it doesn't have what I want, I turn to Poisoned for it connects to the massive Kazaa network.

I agree with the Acqlite comment. It's the only one I use now. I can't find any Mac Torrents since the website has gone done for maintenance.

^ Thats the thing with 'pirating' (downloading music you don't have a license to) music. There are no guarantees about the quality, consistency, or legitimacy of a track and that's how iTMS and other music stores hope to get people to stop breaking the law.

I figure my time starts at about $15/hour. If it takes me 4 minutes to find and download a song (and I'm doing nothing else productive) that's $1.00 worth of my time. If it takes any longer than that, then I'm better off buying the track from iTMS and spending 3 minutes working overtime to make up for it. Of course the only online music services available to me right now uses WMA and so don't work on OS X. As soon as I can setup an iTMS account I'll probably start picking up a lot more music, in the mean time online radio is keeping me entertained with new music, and back-buying some of the catalog from artists I already own takes up the rest.

You might value your time different from the way I do, but for me pirating music just doesn't make sense any more.
