Hi Guys!

Just bought a 12" Powerbook, and I?m stunned with it, but several problems arised, hope you more xperienced guys can clear up my mind:

First: I cannot make a network connection between my desktop XP system and my PB, both are connected to my 3COM 812 Router, both are in the same workgroup and sharing folders, but something is wrong because tried pinging with no resuls and don?t see my shared. Could it be the router firewall ??? well I hope someone give me a new idea cause I can?t figure out.

Second: Could someone please point me a software for a clean uninstall and for eliminate residual files, sometimes throwing programs 2 trash leaves these files behind ( installed DAVE demo and now it?s giving me headaches )

Third: Is there a way to autohide top bar, maybe with software ???

Thanks a lot, hope 2 help in the futurejava script:emoticon:D#39;:D')

1) It could be that you have the firewall for xp turned on which will obviously break file sharing.

try: CMD+K on your mac, then smb://ip.address.of.pc/c$

when it asks for a user name enter any user in the administrators group (windows makes everyone an administrator by default) and their password.

2) For programs that have an installer, try running it again, or looking on their install media for an uninstaller. dave is one of those applications that dorks about with the core-system so I'm not surprised that you're having issues. I had a fairly descent guide to uninstalling software written a little while ago - try searching the mac forums.

3) not that i've ever scene. I could do it 'in a program I wrote, but as soon as you switch programs it's going to come back.

2nd - Errr..Generally an Unistaller is provided with an App, if its required. Typically the only other files accompanied with an App (if u trashed it) are in the Library Folder(s). Do a search for 'dave' or whatever app is appropiate.

3rd - Sorry, no not that I've seen - But saying that I've never wanted to hide the menu bar...

Glad to see you got it sorted out. I was going to mention that the botched uninstall of Dave was most likely what was causing your networking issues, but I see you figured that out. With the release of Panther and it's improved Samba support, Dave is almost obsolete.
