CompaqBen
hi i have Windows 2000 Pro and i have a little problem. I have 3 icons in "Network and Dial-up Connections" : make new connection, my high speed line and "Local Area Network". The problem is sometime an icon appear in systray saying Local Area Network disabled but all the cable are ok. If i try to go to "Network and Dial-up Connections" and right click "Local Area Network" and choose Enable a small window open and say Enabling seem to hang. Can this be caused by putting my computer in stand by ? Thank you !
Heinrich-X
Make a New connection is a defualt icon to make a new dial-up connection The Highspeed icon is probably there because you have your Broadband modem hooked up through USB The LAN icon is there probably because you have a 10/100 LAN card or a LAN controller built into your mobo, just right click on the LAN icon and then click on "Disable", it should disapear from your systray, if it doesn't don't worry about it

Heinrich-X
your LAN and Highspeed are in "Network and Dial-up Connections" because they are network connections, and if your highspeed or LAN say they are "disabled" or "disconnected" check to see if your internet works (see if IE loads up a page), if no internet then reset your broadband modem
