Just got Mandrake

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say I managed to get Mandrak to run and the KDE is very nice. I gotta learn soo much until then Im jst saying hi from Linux land.

thx tried for a while to get sata (raid-0) to work to no avail im running off my 160 Gb IDE HD which is unfortunatly going into my xbox in a few.

Yeah, I don't think there is much support in Linux yet for SATA. I might be wrong on that though. I don't have any SATA stuff to try with it. I had a hard enough time getting Mandrake to boot on my PowerBook. I ended up having to install Yellow Dog Linux first to get the boot loader working, then installed Mandrake over the top of it. I'm going to update it to Mandrake 10 soon (the PPC build is available on a couple of mirrors, but not as an ISO yet, only the packages). Can't wait to see how well the 2.6 kernel runs on this machine.

has anybody compiled kernel to get VPN / PPP working? i m trying here ..

Do you mean a VPN client? The Cisco client works great without recompiling the kernel (although I've only used 2.4.x). This was available from my Uni for free, see if the organisation you're wanting to connect to also provide a copy.
