Southern Patriot
Yeah, I don't think there is much support in Linux yet for SATA. I might be wrong on that though. I don't have any SATA stuff to try with it. I had a hard enough time getting Mandrake to boot on my PowerBook. I ended up having to install Yellow Dog Linux first to get the boot loader working, then installed Mandrake over the top of it. I'm going to update it to Mandrake 10 soon (the PPC build is available on a couple of mirrors, but not as an ISO yet, only the packages). Can't wait to see how well the 2.6 kernel runs on this machine.

UKer
has anybody compiled kernel to get VPN / PPP working? i m trying here .. Do you mean a VPN client? The Cisco client works great without recompiling the kernel (although I've only used 2.4.x). This was available from my Uni for free, see if the organisation you're wanting to connect to also provide a copy.
MR_Candyman
There's great support for SATA...Can't remember if it gets set to a scsi or a raid device though... google it and you'll find all sorts of stuff
