XP shutdown problems

Recommended Posts

for about a month now, xp wont seem to shutdown/hibernate/sleep anymore, when ever i select shutdown in the start menu, and go to shut down, it only restarts, and whenever i try to go in standby/hibernate mode, it says "the device driver for the 'Standard 101/102-Key or Microsoft PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver" I've tried reinstalling/uninstalling/rolling back/etc the keyboard driver (provided with xp) and nothing seems to work, and it still only restarts or gets that message, what should i do?

you've probably already done this, but oh well. try looking for an updated driver form the manufacturer of your specific keyboard. if you can't find it, post the brand/model etc. and I or someone else should be able to find it. there may also be 'known issues' wih your keyboard, and if you get me some info i'll look around.

peace,

dan

ps. this is post #1 for me! woohoo

turn it over and give me a model number or serial number or something... i remeber my first windows 98 comp was an HP, what a piece of crap. supposedly HP's gotten better but i'm never gonna buy one again.
