ChrisJM
When trying to configure the gimp 2.0.0 i get the following error: checking for GTK+ - version >= 2.2.2... no *** Could not run GTK+ test program, checking why... *** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the *** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK+ is incorrectly installed. configure: error: Test for GTK+ failed. See the file 'INSTALL' for help. any ideas how i can fix this?
MulletRobZ
What version of Mandrake do you have installed? If it is 10.0, then I recommend that you switch to Slackware (9.0 or 9.1) or Fedora (2 should be coming out soon). Mandrake 10 is not the best Linux out there with the font wizard not installing the fonts correctly, NVidia drivers not working, and some of the updates caused the system to heavily bog down. 9.0 was ok, but it does not have GLibC 2.3 and upgrading GLibC usually means wiping out everything. If you still wish to stick with Mandrake, check the version of GTK+ in the Remove Packages wizard (only not remove anything, LOL) and upgrade it if necessary by looking for an RPM at http://www.rpmfind.net or some other source. CaKeY
There's a Gimp 2 mandrake 10 rpm available HERE. It also installs just fine from source if you have required packages installed. Everything you need is included on the cd's.
