Uninstall Linux from Dual boot

Recommended Posts

One of my friends was running a Dual boot setup with XP and RedHat. He uninstalled RedHat and is now having trouble booting into Windows, as it won't let him. Based on what he IMed me he was using Partition Magic and also deleted the boot loader and the Red Hat partition. I suggested using the XP CD and doing a repair but he said he tried that and it didn't work.

Any suggestions

That is correct.

Sounds like your friend didn't follow the very clear instructions to properly remove a dual-boot MBR. :pinch:

Don't worry, it is easy to recover.

Yeah, it still has fdisk. fixmbr is new, and cannot be used on the older Windows PCs, so I stick to recommending fdisk /mbr
