Visual Style Update List

Recommended Posts

Is there some sort of plugin or modification for the invision board that could somehow notify people when a visual style is updated? I have so many themes from the board and I always forget to check for new versions and I know I am not the only one. I just think it is a pain in the butt to keep looking up 20+ or so themes to see if they have been updated. I just think it would be helpful if there could be some kind of mailing feature that could tell people who sign up that a visual style has been updated similar to when someone replies to a topic you are suscribed to.

Actually I have a way better idea and it is much easier. Can one of the admins put up a sticky note currently listing all the visual styles the version number, and then the date it was updated in the completed visualization section. It would be extremely helpful and I think a lot of people would like it! Then have the authors notify you when they update it and the sticky can be changed accordingly. This way it would be so much easier for people to compare what is on their system with what is on this sticky instead of searching through 100+ threads looking for all their visual styles.

For example:

Completed Visual Styles

That would be quite a pain to manage. I think the extra module idea would be better, but I don't know about it actually happning..

I don't think it is a good idea, because it would be nigh on impossible to manage. Anyway, you can see which VS have been updated since their threads will be near the top of the list of topics in the Completed Visual Styles section. :)

If somone had no life, they could make a java type thingie, where you click on the visual style, then it expands down and you click on 'download', or you can see the different attributes of it...

See the thing is, that some of us do not check that section every day. And if we check it like a week or two later the thread will no longer be at the top and then you have to go searchng for it. For example, yesterday I wanted to make sure I had the latest Classix so I had to go searching for it. I know that is only one VS to go searching for, but I have 20+ and I am sure people have even more visual styles they want to check for the latest versions. If some sort of plugin could be found that would be cool.

I can see why you'd want something like this. But, it would be such a tedious task for a moderator to do that. I couldn't see that happening, even though it would be a nice feature. Perhaps a pinned thread for those that create themes to post their latest versions with download links and links to screenshots. Not a seperate thread for each theme, or something along those lines would be nice.

I was talking about only one pinned thread. It woud just list the themes that are currently released, when it was released, etc.... The visual style makers could PM the admins when they have a new release and the info for it so that the list can be changed. What I am thinking about is similar to what is in the software section with the list of freeware software except it is a list of visual styles and info about them.

why?

the completed VS section is the only forum i think where the author can edit the first post unlimited number of times.. so whenever there is an update it should be the authors responsibility to edit his first post and update the links and info.
