null_
I downloaded the latest driver installation package from nVIDIA, but I have NO idea how the hell to get out of X to install them. I have a Geforce 4 mx 440 se, fedora core 1.
hornett
Press control-alt-f2 to get to a command prompt and login as root. Then use telinit 3 to shut down x and all programs running and switch to run level three (text only). You can then install the drivers. Edit: forgot to say, use telinit 5 to switch back to gui mode, but remember that the root console may still be logged in on control-alt-f2, so switch to it, logout, then press control alt f7 to switch back to x. markwolfe Veteran Posted March 31, 2004 Veteran Share Posted March 31, 2004 You will have to specify the full path in FC on telinit. Use /sbin/telinit 3 to switch to runlevel 3, which will terminate X for you. Once installed, use /sbin/telinit 5 to switch back to your normal runlevel 5. :) (and please don't forget to get back to CTRL+ALT+F2 and exit your root login...) ;)

MulletRobZ
Or when GRUB comes up, I think you press "a", then "4", then Enter. That will get you to text mode (Run Level 4) because Run Level 3 tyakes you through this crappy wizard. But I have tried installing the NVidia drivers in Fedora and I didn't encounter any problems. Hope this helps. :)
