CommanderRomeo
Hey Lads, So here's the problem everytime I come to neowin starting from yesterday I get this error *looks @ screenshot* now I've never gotten this before I'm running windows sp1. I've changed the setting in IE to allow Ax to run & even added neowin to my trusted sites. I know this is in the wrong form but I'm to tired to put it in the right place, so mods if you'd be so kind. -Romeo :ninja:
SaguratuS
If I were you, I'd go get firefox. You'll never have problems like that, and it's secure. Besides, tabs own. Oh yeah, also has a built in popup blocker.

beacon
adding to trusted sites wont help because Neowin pulls data from other sites. Hence why you get the mixed mode icon down the bottom right. Try adding http://focusin.ads.targetnet.com to the list of trusted sites as well. Still doesnt explain why you get activex error though.

beacon
Soryr for the 2 posts but I'm thinking it maybe because of Java or Java permissions: Check: In "Security" Tab of Internet Explorer in Custom Level Scroll down to option called "Java Permissions" and be sure that it's set to "High Safety". While you're there, be sure that the "Scripting of Java Applets" option is also set to "Enable". Then update MS's Java Machine or Suns i forget with all this lawsuits and stuff. :p
mipra
Indeed....try to make the security to default medium. That will do it

maplecookie Veteran Posted April 2, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 2, 2004 i don't think it's actually neowin, it's the ads that neowin runs. i disabled it on my work comp, and as soon as you click okay on that box, the ONLY thing that doesn't come up like it should are various ads no biggie, just change your settings

Night.Hawk
Hmmm..... have you tried looking through your ActiveX controls to see what's there? Have you tried deleting your history, cache, and cookies completely? And have you tried turning off any addons that may be messing with IE? Such as something that blocks popups or takes out banner ads and so forth? Also, do you have a program like Adaware, Spyware Blaster, or SpyBot S&D installed? There are settings in there (Mostly Spyware Blaster) that could be causing Neowin not to work.
OptiPlex
Firefox is the answer to all computer related problems! My computer crashed today with a BSOD. I installed Firebox and it still crashes. Night.Hawk
Talking about Firefox isn't getting us anywhere. He's still getting the popup I'm sure. If you like Firefox then post in in another topic that's about Firefox. I like to show people in my sig, not going around telling people it solves everything. And you know what he meant. You know that he didn't mean it fixes everything. Besides, it's a browser. It's not much of a joke though I'll have to admit I did kinda laugh. You wouldn't believe how many people would probably do that thinking it would work.
