aco Veteran Posted September 14, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2001 I know this probably not the best solution, but have you upgraded to the latest version of Nero (5.5.4.0)? You can reach the updates site at the link below: http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm Good Luck! :)
PabUK Veteran Posted September 14, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2001 handyman I have exactly the same problem! I tried to burn a CD using Nero twice in XP a few days ago and both times I got a BSOD. I ended up doing it in 2000 instead. And I am running the latest version so it isn't that. I thought perhaps some kind of conflict between the inbuilt Roxio software in XP and Nero, or just an incompatibility between Nero and XP.
Khujo
I had problems with burning software in general in xp, it would burn a few cds then lock up or give me repeated buffer errors i haven't even tried to burn anything in 2k yet to see if its my burner or a software/os issue
PabUK Veteran Posted September 14, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2001 I remember reading something on Neowin saying that there were problems running Easy CD Creator in XP, even though Roxio created both that and the built-in software in XP. So it looks likely that it is an XP issue with CD burning software.
Khujo
there is an issue with direct cd and take two from roxio and xp's internal burning engine if i remember correctly, ezcd5 reportedly works if those options are deselected at setup, i only use nero and cdrwin so i'm not positive. PabUK Veteran Posted September 14, 2001 Veteran Share Posted September 14, 2001 I just remembered that I have also had a BSOD while burning a CD with the built-in software in XP, before I even had any third party authoring software installed. All very confusing. CD writing is the only thing that has managed to cause a BSOD in XP.
martyr
Install the latest ASPI drivers from Adaptec, that should do it!
zivan56
Use the Nero ASPI drivers from the newest version from a few days ago. Just copy winaspi32.dll from the nero dir to windowssystem32 and do regsvr32.exe winaspi32.dll that fixed my problem. Dont use the Adaptec ASPi, as they support very little CD writers, like my Creative Labs 8432E, yet it supports my friends no-name brand writer? Adaptec is a joke, it only supports their cd writers.
