ctn|chrisw
Hi, I have an old laptop, compaq presario 1245, in which I would like to install linux on. Im looking for a small and easy distribution that is likely to work with my soundcard and wireless linksys pcmia card so I can use it as an mp3 jukebox this weekend since I will be traveling. Anyone have an reccomendations? I tried pclinux but X core dumps when I do startx and if I use the gui login it just keeps dumping me back to the login, I've tried morphix but it wont work with my lan properly for some reason. ta, chris
markwolfe Veteran Posted April 9, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 9, 2004 We can't know what will work when we don't know the chipsets involved... However, if you can boot Knoppix and have sound and network, you should be able to get anything to work. My next question is, do you need a GUI? MP3s can be played from the command prompt.
