Keldyn
I am assuming then that this is not the idle process which will rate around that high for cpu usage. have you tried killing the process to see what effect this has ? Exercise caution doing this. Just a thought....

AnalogKid
hey ppl, looks like i have a big problem here, searchin' out on the MS Knowledge Base, i found this: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...b;EN-US;q193233 so I turned off my cable modem and... magically my system is running perfectly. Now, there's another problem. I'm using a shared connection w/ my brother via Wingate 4.5 (my brother's computer is running the server). Looks like the wg firewall isn't working fine
Qumahlin
your not being attacked. there is a error somewhere in your network generating reject packets. if you notice that support article you found applies only to NT 4 before MS fixed this error by having windows automatically drop multiple error packets from remote procedure calls... You simply have either A. something causing a reject packet on your system...or B. windows has a bug..believe me windows can get bugs! who'd believe it! just thought i'd let you know your not being attacked since that attack vulnerability does not work anymore

AnalogKid
Holy ****!! I forced to stop this service (deleting his entry on registry) and my system get crazy, so I had to re-install the windows XP. So, i have to discover another way to solve this problem, anyone? mariusu
yeah, that was a bad idea, since most of the services running on winxp machines depend on this service! don't do this again! and by the way, you can disable/stop/start services using "services" in the "admin tools! no need to work with the registry:D
AnalogKid
I know, but specially for this service i can't stop it inside service tab.. anyway... what can i do?
AnalogKid
Hmm maybe i solved this problem... reading some forums on internet i found out a guy who got the same problem. Then I started to uninstall all the software that is directly linked w/ my network.. and ta-da!! the problem is w/ Wingate Client, so now I'm using internet without the server (i don't know how, but it works)
Steven
And Just use Windows XP's Networking, setup... Extra Programs = Extra Problems and the RPC (Remote Procedure Call) Is the 1 Service that needs to be constantly running, in order to keep windows working, the moment ya kill it, i believe windows xp shuts down automatically.
