Slimy
Hey, wouldn't it be nice, for the problem posts if there was a checkbox for whether the problem was solved that only the original poster and administrators could check off that way the geniuses could look and go "ahah, this loser needs my help" sooooooo i forgot my other suggestions hopefully they will come back
Cara Veteran Posted April 12, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 12, 2004 Kind of like a ticket system? I've made that type of suggestion for Site and Fourm issues for the future, if we put it into effect, we'd probably try it here first and see what happens. :) Good idea though. ;)
Wannes
What I think is a good idea is that topic would get locked in support forums when an issue is solved, otherwise there will be 10 more replies just saying the same as you (or whoever gave the correct answer) with a different wording. :/
zhangm Supervisor Posted April 12, 2004 Supervisor Share Posted April 12, 2004 Digressive discussion is sometimes a good thing. Its practically what the Neowin community spirit is based on... This is why we have a forum, and not some giant FAQ of computer problems/solutions.
KC
Locking the thread is not a good idea as sometimes alternative solutions come up later on.
....
Locking the thread is not a good idea as sometimes alternative solutions come up later on. I agree. Sometimes the first solution given isn't the best.
MxxCon
indeed locking a thread might be a bit extreme, however something like thread starter could select some post and mark it as "soluction accepted" and that will count toward that user's karma :D but mods are too bloody lazy ;) to do anything now so we'll have to wait for IPB2.
Wannes
you could introduce something like multi moderation where you just click a link (as mod) when a topic is solved (when the user said the topic is solved). then this will put a tag in the topic title like [solved] topic question here How about that? (its a feature in ipb 1.3 already)
Joel
but mods are too bloody lazy ;) Everyone always write "mods", as if we have the power to sneeze and magically change the board. :p Admins code, we just look good.

Joel
I think it's a good idea....is there an expected date for IPB 2? In the words of Matt from IPS; When it's finished.
Wannes
lol, so what do you think about the idea of multi moderation?
....
but mods are too bloody lazy ;) to do anything now so we'll have to wait for IPB2.0 Like silly said....mods don't do that, and your assumption, sir, is wholly incorrect to begin with.
Wannes
why would mods be lazy? i see them working all the time... moved here, moved there. :p
Japlabot
,Apr 12 2004, 23:48] otherwise there will be 10 more replies just saying the same as you (or whoever gave the correct answer) with a different wording. :/ I've seen you participate in one of those 10 more replies all the time. Banzai
it would mean to much work for the mods, and also most of the time how would mods know if the problem was fixed, most people post they have a problem post it and then never reply to tell us weather the problem was fixed.
