divinatum
Hi, as part of my homework for my comp. technolgy class, i have to make network diagrams. the program instructed to use is Microsoft Visio. afaik there isnt a Mac version of Visio, and i dont really have the money to buy it if there was. Is there a free/cheap alternative that will let me do this?
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted April 15, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 15, 2004 OmniGraffle! Way better than Visio IMHO.
Steve
OmniGraffle is a REALLY nice App. Wouldn't mind getting the full version. :)

the evn show
OmniGraffle is one of those "this is why i own a macintosh" applications.
BananaMan
OmniGraffle is one of those "this is why i own a macintosh" applications. Or "why I WANT to own a mac" apps. ;)

aristotle-dude
I like Omin Graffle too. But let's been honest here. It still is no Visio. For network diagrams and workflows it's great but for enterprise level database diagrams, nothing beats Visio. That being said. Visio is a POS bloated app. :D

hotrod
MACS!! man i could have thrown one out the window the other day. i had a g4 the other day that was booting to the desktop and then completely locking up. i wanted to boot from a cd and get in and turn off extensions but guess what??? you couldn't get the cd rom to open! how ingenious is apple to design a computer that doesn't have an eject button on the cd rom?? real smart idea. i had to take the damn case apart and remove 4 screws to get the drive out just to boot from a CD. yeah the keyboard had the ^ eject button but that does no damn good when the machine locks up as soon as it starts to load the desktop. really ****es me off that someone cant design a computer with more thought than that.... sebaz
hold the mouse button down as u boot, that will eject the cd. Did you look for an alternative before you decided to open the mac, i doubt it. Open firmware lets you do this also: http://diveintoosx.org/OpenFirmware.html Yea its apple designers fault all along that u are misinformed.
hotrod
and i guess by your sarcassm, the the average user is supposed to know this?? give me a break. i'd hate to know that i own a mac and had to take it in to have it worked on or make a support call just because i couldn't get the cd-rom drive open. this is why i'll never own one. the only reason i touch one is when i am obligated to work on them at work. sebaz
well the hold the mouse button is on the manual. Also, does the average PC user know how to change the boot order of the drives? I doubt it. It just a matter of been informed thats all.
