murtxx
I answer my OWN question below. It's always better to find an easy [no regedit method]. To have a clean desktop......... I used the 1st method below [fixed it] and used 2nd method for easy an clean desktop. with full use of the right click and "show desktop" icon. To hide all Desktop Icons from Explorer, use the following Windows NT / Windows 2000 / Windows XP registry hack : Hive: HKEY_CURRENT_USER Key: SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplorer Name: NoDesktop Type: REG_DWORD Value: 1 With this key enabled, in addition, you cannot right click on the desktop to get a context menu. This is a lockdown option. [set value to 0 to get back control of your desktop]. Then right click desktop select "arrange icons by" deselect "show desktop icons" NOW you have a clean desktop with NO problems.
