I'm happy as I'm likely to be buying one sometime soon... if you follow the Apple scene you'd know that they update their products every 5 - 8 months-ish. As it hasn't been updated since September I'm looking forward to an update. I probably won't be buying until July anyway.

No, it just means he didn't get the best value.

If you kept your money, in 10 / 15 years, you could buy a 1THz PowerBook for the same money...

ANY computer hardware is going to be replaced by a newer model in the space of a few months...

Meh - he's just annoyed that newer models are coming out *so soon* after he got his.

I used to feel the sameway, and I was also a switcher so on the PC side, hardware becomes "old" fast. Soon, however, I realized that my PowerBook would last long (for at least a couple years, or at least until a G5 PB comes along) and I know I can eBay it for a good price if I ever wanted that G5 PowerBook.

So... I am happy:).

Just bought a new 12'' Powerbook, should be interesting to see what they add....I'm not suspecting anything besides a speed bump, and a new feature here and there.....

Doesnt make my 2 week old powerbook any less loveable :)

Well technology keeps moving foward no matter what. Besides not like your powerbook is obsolete or anything, just not the cutting edge, omg the lattest-uber stuff thing. Steve Job wont be calling any new powerbook owner and be like:

SJ: "Uh..yea Mr. Blizzard, yea u know the mac-heads are gettin a bit restless with no updates for quite a while.."

You: OMG teh Steve Jobs...go on

SJ: "Yea..as i was sayin no updates for quite a while, so after my pondering of 25 new ipod mini colors, i decided to update..what are they called..ummm yea computers..oh yea we are Apple Computer after all"

You: OK....

SJ: I already did the eMac, now its time for the Powerbook..

You: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

SJ: Oh God, please tell me you are gonna let me go ahead and update the powerbooks. I mean if you are not agreein with this update, Ill just go ahead and launch my 25 new ipod mini colors, and the new G5s and displays..

You: Well i always tought the ipod mini needed more colors..

SJ: Let me call my PR Department...*calls* DESTROY ALL THE POWERBOOKS!!! -No More powerbooks until Mr Blizzard's powerbook reaches the age of 6 months old

You: And can i get a candy red ipod Mini?

SJ: No....

You: But Why?

SJ: Because you dont have an ipod mini to begin with

You: You are a meanie Steve..

SJ: I know... *hangs up*

My iBook G3 is still great, and it is about a year old now. A g4/g5 would be nice, but this is good enough for me and still better then anybody's wintel laptop I have seen.

You should have paid better attention to what whas goin on in the mac world before you bought it...If you're lucky you can return it and get one of the newer ones or, honestly they're not THAT much better, its not going to destroy your world to NOT have the top of the line is it? Cuz if it is you're gonna be wasting ALOT of money

I dont own an apple computer, but I kinda felt the same way that b|iZZaRd is feeling when I got my tablet pc. I bought a Toshiba Portege 3505 (WinXP TabletPC, 1.33GHz PIII, 40GB, 512MB) in june 2003, but a few months later toshiba released this Toshiba Portege M200(http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cmod.to?rcid=-26367&coid=-26385&ccid=1291041&seg=SMB&sel=0) and I felt like you are feeling now. I had a few months to use my tablet and realize its worth to me, however you only had your pb for what, a few days/weeks? but still, you have a nice new powerbook while others dont even have that. I am lucky to have my tablet, just as you are lucky to have a pb, just wait for the next cycle or even for a possible g5 pb in the future.

just learn to like your computer dispite its "non-top-of-the-line"ness :).

Just have fun with it, because like i said, you are lucky to have one.

congrats on your purchase,

STV
