Wannes
enable post 808 on your firewall.
Japlabot
I don't have Administrator access to my firewall because I connect from my dorm, and I'm only allowed access to ports 80(http), 443(https) and 0(ping). The images will never work for me this way and I've never seen another site that has it this way (on professional level hosting).
Steven P. Administrators Posted April 18, 2004 Administrators Share Posted April 18, 2004 its because we use 2 servers to deliver Neowins content.. the images on port 8080 are located at a different IP, so its impossible to have the 2nd server running on port 80 (using the same address). Japlabot
why can't you use a different domain/subdomain for the second server?
Adrian
why can't you use a different domain/subdomain for the second server? Yeah, isn't it possible to create a subdomain like images.neowin.net and change the A entry in the dns to the ip of the other server?

null_
Yeah, isn't it possible to create a subdomain like images.neowin.net and change the A entry in the dns to the ip of the other server? I agree that this is a very good idea; I don't have any problem browsing Neowin at home but I can't see stuff when im browsing Neowin at school during my lunch break. :pinch:
MrWatchDawg
hrrm I think the sub-domain deal would be a better idea since alot of people on neowin are students and etc and they have that port blocked :)
Redmak Administrators Posted April 18, 2004 Administrators Share Posted April 18, 2004 I wanted to keep the images on our main server but if port 8080 is a problem I'll move the images to our second server.
