iBook G4 & Powerbook G4 updates

Recommended Posts

just a lil speed bump and stuff, i'm disappointed.. still G4... :(

perhaps you need to keep up with the rumor mills... if you expected a g5 in a powerbook, today, you're a fool.

wwdc at the earliest. it's only like 2 months away. this will do.

Well i feel silly but I just bought my powerbook on friday. 15" 1.25gig illuminated keyboard and 1gig ram. Now they have a 1.5gig... Didnt expect that little bit of a bump. Should I go to my apple store this evening and see about trading in. I have one issue I will have to pay a big restocking fee which is wack. I guess i get burned love the Powermac though. I guess, I should have waited. Any advice people.

Thank you,

K.R.

These are pretty sweet upgrades. AirPort Extreme is now standard in all PowerBooks and the iBooks can now get a SuperDrive. The price drop is pretty good too.

This will probably be the last update for PowerBooks before we see a G5 in them. The 1.5 G4 is the fastest G4 that has been made.

Thanks for the link and the info but it was a little to late. Plus rumors usually get people in trouble or are either incorrect or inacurate. Thus my not keeping up with any sorts of rumor mills. I will just call the apple store and see what the have to say. Im not complaining I love my PBG4. Actually i just left my pc to use my wireless connection to type this out. .25gighz more and 9700 128 is the only difference between me and the new model. But I have 1gig ram so im happy as a clam. But hey thanks again.

K.R. :D

Good news for noobs like myself who just bought a PBG4 before the updates to 1.5gig. You can get money back if you show your reciept since our model has been dropped in price, or just exchange it for the newer model. You might have to pay a few buck but I believe its a straight up trade. So I think I will just get me some new toys for my mac. \/\/007!

think there's any chance the prices will drop on these or there will be new models out before the end of the summer?

i'm wondering if i should just buy one now since i was planning on getting a powerbook before september so i can take it with me when i go abroad....

Doubt it, I don't think Apple lowers prices until new models are released!

Glad everyones loving the updates.

I'm highly considered getting the new 12" iBook, it's at a sweet price point, and could easily handle all my needs.

Usually I'd be ****ed since my ibook isn't that old and they already did updates on it, but only 67mhz bump so it shouldn't be losing any value :).

Crap, I'm going to sell my 12" pbook on ebay and get an iBook. :D

They may be G4's but they have fixed the FSB on these so they are better than the older G4's.

The G5 will come when IBM fixes their yield issue. Yes, the yield problems are a concern but atleast they are not having any heat/scaling problems with the 90nm process. :p

Wow the 15.2" and 17" powerbooks are so hard to resist. I wonder if I should break the bank now, or try to hold off for the G5's. I am so confused! :D
