neowin_hipster
I thinkin i'm gonna buy a 15" pbook combo-drive tommorow. The 14" ibook is super tempting especially for the price. Man these are sweet, my only complaint (no, g5's would be nice but...) is the low ram.
aaron901
perhaps you need to keep up with the rumor mills... if you expected a g5 in a powerbook, today, you're a fool.wwdc at the earliest. it's only like 2 months away. this will do. a man can always dream right?

SonComet
Hey I know this is off topic but right now I am torn between the 15" and 17" powerbook. I just wanted to know if one of the games I play and if other games support the 15" models 3:2 aspect ratio. For example, does ut2004 let you play at 1280x854 or does it force you to choose a 4:3 or 16:10 resolution? Since there is only 100 dollars seperating the two, that is pretty much one of the deciding factors for me. The 17" seems too big. The 12" too small. The 15" seems to be just right for desktop replacement/comfortably portability. It just looks so well proportioned compared to its siblings. Anyways, enough psychotic rambling from yours truly. Anyone know if apple games support the 3:2 resolution? Also, are most/all movies 16:10 or are they 16:9? Would both the 17" and 15" have black bars when displaying movies? XiXora
saw a copy of matrix running at an apple store on a 17" and it had black bars.
Dazzla Veteran Posted April 20, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 20, 2004 Yup, 16:9 movies will display black bars. Although not a lot of movies are 16:9 anyway, they're a more wide aspect so even on 16:9 screens there's black bars. The Matrix is an example of a film wider then 16:9.
