plasticparadox
That's a nice machine. I myself jumped ship from Windows about 4 months ago, and haven't looked back. Free software... well iLife is free with your new Mac, and I use iLife everyday. Also free: iComic http://www.ruxp.net/iComic.asp Downloads comics to your desktop. Poisoned http://www.gottsilla.net/ FastTrack, Gnutella, and Gift P2P client VLC http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ Media player for most media formats PithHelmet http://culater.net/software/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php Safari plugin - removes page banner ads and adds functionality to Safari If you don't mind cheap shareware, check out: Konfabulator http://www.konfabulator.com/ Put cool widgets on your desktop. Speed Download http://www.yazsoft.com/ Equivalent to GetRight Synergy http://synergy.wincent.com/ Adds iTunes controls to your menubar and pops up a transparent window with album art, song info. iBlog http://www.lifli.com/Products/iBlog/main.htm Good blogging app, free with .Mac and works with .Mac/iDisk as well. GraphicConverter http://www.lemkesoft.de/en/graphcon.htm Does what the name says. Great simple image editor, when you don't want to load Photoshop. And for full-blown commercial software: Toast 6 http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/index.jhtml Awesome software to burn and mount disk images. Works better at mounting images than built-in Mac functionality. Hope this helps! Hope you have lots of fun with your new Powerbook!
