As you guys have seen, the updates are rolling in, who would be the next luck person?

Lets go to the list shall we:

Update List

[x] eMac

[x]iBook

[x]Powerbook

[?]iMac - hmmm could they get the same G4s that were use in the powerbook? If thats the case wouldnt have been better to release them on the iMac first?

[?]PowerMac - Steve said 3Ghz in a year, No update for God knows how long. June WWDC seems like the answer so far

Worthy Mentions

[?]Cinema Displays - Aluminium to match the Power line would be nice...

What you guys think, are we gonna see another update prior to WWDC ?

Share your toughths children.

i think new displays, they are quite outdated technology. samsung apparently released a 19" lcd with a 700:1 contrast ratio...

at least i hope they will update them soon

Well I think it's a given the iMac will get faster G4 processors with a new video card, and the Powermacs will get G5 processor/video card improvements. How much of a speedbump is the question. I don't really think anything will get bumped before WWDC. If they do, what will they announce in June? I'm really hoping Apple/IBM come through with a huge speedbump to 3ghz in June, but I don't like how it's looking.

Let's face it, the Apple LCDs stink. Sure they have a great screen, but the contrast ratios and the respone times (30+ms) on them are terrible....2 year old technology.

Powerbooks are profressional level products (along with the powermac), they typically offer some higher end features but also carry a "pro" premium. Apple probably stands to make more money selling faster powerbooks than faster iMacs. It's not like they don't have multiple Phd marketing and engineering types on staff to make these sorts of decisions.

Well the 23" still uses a top of the line panel. The 20" looks just as good, and the 17" doesn't look bad either. The panels may be old but they are still good even by todays standards. The ratings are conservative which is typical of philips. True better 17" panels do exist but a better 23" one doesn't seem to.

I'm not talking about how it looks. Sure they look pretty (the 17" is possibly the worst 17" lcd out there), but they are VERY outdated. 20, 23 are both seriously lacking by today's quite common standards. The ratings are not conservative...they are bad. These are ratings released by Apple either...they are third party ratings.

I wasn't talking about how they were designed either. If you look at the 23" panel it is still a top of the line 23" panel. It still costs 2500 in sony's 23" lcd, and even more in philip's own lcds. Does philips have an enhanced version waiting in the wings? Or should apple go with samsung's 24.3" panel? On the 17" one they have tons of better choices, but on the 20/23" panels there isn't much to choose from, right? (Sure great 20" lcds exist today but apple's is widescreen.) Not saying I don't think the specs suck, just saying that maybe apple can't do very much about it.
