Joelcottrell
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could host a website from my computer or any tutorial on the web that I could use to host a website from my computer?
0 Morphos
go to Analogx.com get the simpleserver www program from the networking section. write some quick and dirty HTML, then pick your starting (index.html perhaps) page and tell people your IP. You could also go to a page that reroutes domains to your hopefully static IP and get an address like yourself.sytes.net, lots easier to remember. 0 Krome
1) Get a static IP 2) sign up or get yourself a domain name (DNS) 3) run a server (which host the above info and the rest of the info... namely DHCP, WINS, DNS and stuff like that... and web server)
0 Tim Dorr Veteran Posted February 26, 2002 Veteran Share Posted February 26, 2002 analogx's server is ok....but if you want to get your hands dirty and do some REAL webwork, get Apache installed. It's honestly not that hard and configuration should be relatively easy for an intermediate user. http://httpd.apache.org/
