splatnix
I know this isn't important news for many of you out there, but someone else might find it to be a useful tidbit: kernel 2.6.5 finally includes a working build of the Neomagic 256av ALSA Driver! It finally, for the first time since the 2.6 series was introduced, works out of the "box". No special parameters are needed anymore (as was usually the case with pre-2.4.20 kernels or ALSA-1.0.2 or lower) and ALSA for once actually works WITHOUT needing to use the ALSA-OSS emulation. This is EXCELLENT news for all of us users who are still using older laptops! Now... if only they could fix the neofb module, then we'd have a perfectly working kernel for these kinds of systems.... but vesafb works just fine anyway.... ;)
