Soundcard trouble in XP-PRO

Recommended Posts

Well his is my first post in this exelent board. I'v been browsing the board for a while and with the knowledge of people around here I hope someone can help me with my problem.

On one of my computers i have installed winxp-pro and everything works fine exept the soundcard. I have alle the sound i want, but i am unable to get my speaker icon to stay in the tray. Every time i turn off or restart my pc it is gone. If i open control panel and sound devices it is hooked off to show icon in the taskbar. I have to turn it off and then on again to make it appear again.

I have a Soundblaster PCI128 and have tryed every driver that i can find. Can someone plz help me???

This may sound like a condescending response, so I assure you that it is not, but have you checked the auto-hide feature of the system tray, by right-clicking it, choosing properties, and checking to see if the volume setting is set to be hidden under by customizing the inactive icons?
