Steven
I noticed you guys are warning people about bumping threads Well I got another idea.. hah. Many people bump things because they end up on the 2nd page of a forum or further away. Neobond or Redmak or Voodoo here is my suggestion: Is it posible for you to force the NeoBay Forum to be "Show Topics from the Beginning" as a default view for that forum, by default of 30 days you may end up having people constantly do this and get into trouble for it. If you "Show topics from the beginning" They get to seee everything and nobody has a better "Viewing Advantage" over the other ones. Or maybe by the last 60 or 90 days or maybe increase the amount of topics there are on a single forum page?.
Rek
Nice idea or disable a person posting until someone else replies
Tim Dorr Veteran Posted April 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 23, 2004 If it's been 30 days and their item hasn't sold, I don't think they're going to end up selling it...
Joel
Many people bump things because they end up on the 2nd page of a forum or further away. Changing the default view from 30 days to Beginning won't change that, there are still pages to view.
Steven
Changing the default view from 30 days to Beginning won't change that, there are still pages to view. Banzai
Why are people being warned for topic bumping?
HellBender
If it's been 30 days and their item hasn't sold, I don't think they're going to end up selling it... Agreed. There aren't enough topics there that any of them are being hidden yet, and people are still bumping. Its a nuisance.
FlishFun Veteran Posted April 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 23, 2004 Why are people being warned for topic bumping? Because it's not something we want being done. If we have every Thread Starter bumping hourly (or daily, even) just so that their topic remains on the top of the thread, it will cause massive headaches. So to stop that it's just stated that there will be no bumping. No one has been warned on it yet, since it was just added to the rules. I have posted reminders to those who haven't seen the new rule yet, though. (Y)

FlishFun Veteran Posted April 23, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 23, 2004 Well done, you should have made a topic what forum are you mod of? I didn't make one, my Maple did right here: https://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=159749 So let's have this discussion there, rather than here. ;)
Steffan
Banzai, you can look at the bottom of each area to see if he's a mod for it or not **getting back on topic** I say increase the number of topics that can be view on a single page. I have increased mine from forum default to 30.

....
Why are people being warned for topic bumping? Because when selling items was scattered throughout Neowin, some people would bump their threads consecutively (meaning, they would bump, then bump the same thread the next day with no responses between.) Bumping could cause some anger in there as well, members bumping items that haven't sold, pushing new items that people may actually be interested in down.
