Deron Dantzler
Hi...I hope I'm able to get responses on this! Windows XP supports connection sharing as we all know (correct me if I'm wrong). By saying this I mean using multiple connections on the SAME computer in order to increase speed. I am on cable modem using a broadband gateway w/ a hub. If I installed an EXTRA ethernet card in my machine...and ran another line in from the gateway would I increase my network / internet speed? Or is this whistful thinking and a stupid idea? mtgriffith
Wishful thinking. It won't help your internet speed because you can't achieve 100 MBps much less 200 MBps. Unless you are transfering some serious files across your network or sharing with a lot of other computers then you dont's need any faster than 100 MBps. jwndw
Your bandwidth limit is your cable modem, not your ethernet card. Your card can handle much more bandwidth than your going to get from your cable modem. As far as network performance, it may increase it if you used one card for your internet connection and the other for a local network if you have multiple PC's connected, but even that is probably not going to be noticeable. mtgriffith
Don't feel bad. No question is dumb. Not knowing the answer when you could have asked is dumb. Have you visited www.speedguide.net ?
