djoole
Hello, i'm totally new to the Linux world. I've installed Mandrake 10.0 and now i have to deal with all the software installed in my computer, finding which one is the best and removing the other ones. As for the web browser, i chose Konqueror which looks useful (i was on Crazybrowser in windows). As for the email manager, i have Evolution and Kontact, but none seems to import Outlook PST files. I HAVE to recover my contacts and emails from windows. Is there any way?
markwolfe Veteran Posted April 24, 2004 Veteran Share Posted April 24, 2004 I did this once a long time ago, when I first started migrating away from Windows.... It wasn't easy, but not too tough, if I recall correctly. First thing is, I don't think there is a *direct* import for Outlook. However, you can EXPORT your Outlook info into a specific file format, I believe, and you will be able to use that to import. Check on your Outlook export options, first, and google to see if there is a way to import that in Linux.

Seth
Mmm... CSV files have the greatest compatibility, but you may lose a lot of your custom fields.
Smitjel
I think Mozilla mail will import Outlook files. I know Evolution won't. But if you can import it into Mozilla mail, you can export it out of Mozilla mail into some other format that your email client WILL import.
