Battery issue

Recommended Posts

Okay well today I turn on my PBG4 and its working like a charm. Well that is till I notice that it isnt charging anymore which is cool by me but. The problem is its continues to display 94% on the battery charging icon. Anyone know what is causing this and is there a fix or do i need to take back the battery and get a new one. Maybe discharge this one and let it charge again. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

KR

try using the powerbook until the battery depletes completely and it goes to sleep. Then plug it in on the wall and let it charge until the light turns green. Alternative, you want to reset your PMU also.

PowerBook G4 (12-inch), PowerBook G4 (12-inch DVI), PowerBook G4 (15-inch FW 800), PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.5/1.33GHz), PowerBook G4 (17-inch), PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.33GHz), PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.5GHz)

1. If the computer is on, turn it off.

2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.

3. Wait 5 seconds.

4. Press the power button to restart the computer.

Thank you I thought it might just be that the battery is charged enough and had the wrong input. I will try that. This is just the first time Ive seen it happen since I bought the thing last Friday. Oh well, computers are silly things. They need to be babied sometimes. And my PB is my baby. Sweet sweet 1gig ram inside. Thanks again.

I had something like this happen with my iBook once. Resetting the PMU worked for that problem and it hasn't been an issue since :)

If they specifically say not to do it, I'm sure its not something that you would want to happen to your PowerBook. ;)

this happens to me a lot, just let the battery drain below 92% (its always 92, nothing more than that allows it to charge)

it usually happens when i plug it in and its at 95% or 94%, so i think that its a general bug with their batteries?
