icyorange
Hi, I turned my iBook on this morning to find that I couldn't get an IP address by DHCP... i'm in halls at uni and i've never had any network problems before. At first I thought it was the cable, tried another one and still didn't work. Tried a friends laptop and it works fine regardless of the cable used... so am I right in thinking that it must be my iBook ethernet port that has broken!? I've only had it for a couple of months, if I give Apple a ring I can get it replaced can't I? I haven't got AppleCare but surely they will take it back? Nick

macman87
if they find a problem with the port they can replace it. if you only bought it only a few months ago, it should be fine. its 12 months warranty regardless if u have apple care.
icyorange
Hmm OK it seems as though it's a problem with the DHCP server as my flatmates can't get their internet working either. I've manually assigned my IP address for now and all seems to be working fine. False alarm! :) Nick
