I think the next iMac update will include up to a 1.5 Ghz G4 with few changes to current look + design. I think January 2005 will bring us a G5 iMac with radical new look + design.

what are your thoughts?

G5s won't be going in iMacs anytime soon. They'll get the same processors that the PBs have, plus updated graphics card. Plain vanilla speed bump with no design change until they get a G5 in a usable form factor. Jan 05 I reckon for G5 iMac and redesign.

Yea, no new look until the G5, for sure. Apple need to do that soon tho, because I don't believe iMac's are really selling too well anymore... Infact I read that only iBook's and iPod's are... I might well be wrong tho.

I'd imagine we'll see a G5 tower speed increase and PowerBook G5's ahead of G5 iMac's tho. Afterall they need to keep the pro line-up ahead....

I really don't think we will see G5 powerbooks ahead of the iMac. It seems like it would be much more feasible to put the G5 into the iMac and cool it successfully than into a powerbook. Who knows, maybe the powerbook will never get a G5. It may continue with the G4 if freescale pans out. But I personally want to believe that the iMac will get a G5 at wwdc. Or atleast it seems like something major will happen soon. Why else would a bumped iMac not be out when the eMac is faster? Personally I wish apple would release a headless iMac/eMac with some minor expandability (like the cube, hehe). That may never happen, but I can always hope a G5 iMac will emerge soon. Now that I am buying a Mac (after wwdc though) I want them to release whatever they need to suceed.

The PowerBook G4 came out before the iMac G4 did. With that in hand, and the fact that they need to keep some gap between Pro and Consumer machines, I'd think Apple would work to get the G5 in the PowerBook first. Thats my view anyhow...
