JimmyT
I know that ads are important for the existence of sites and forums, and I'm not going to complain about having ads. I'll complain about not having any ads :p Well, I don't have any ip blocker, ad blocker or anything, but I can't see any ad banner, not here, nor on tomshardware or in any other serious site. Where have they gone? Why did they disappear? Does antivirus software block ads?

JimmyT
I use firefox, but it's the same on both firefox and IE6.0 I don't see any adblocking on my processes. It might be the ad blocker from IMesh-Light I installed a while ago (even when I'm not running IM-L). I think I forgot to uncheck this option when I installed it. JimmyT
No autopatcher, nothing from Symantec on my computer. ummm, what's autopatcher btw? What does it do? I thought it was a collection of the service pack 1 and all MS updates up to date. Why should it block anything? And how does this host file work? Is it like a list for the firewall that has sites to be blocked?

JimmyT
Oooohh riight :) My hosts file... I didn't know where it was or what it did, and I checked it now (thanks ultimaweapon) and it's huge! There are 1610 sites listed there. All ad.*.*, ads.*.* etc :D IMesh Light must have added them. What's the average size of a normal hosts file? (Y) thanks BOOGSoftball for the link, I've never been on that part of the forums :)
