CHALE
I have a 2.5 year old G3 iBook, with no burner. And I'm happy to report I'm upgrading I just order one of the new 15 inch powerbook. Now what I need to know is the best way to transfer everything from my ibook to my new powerbook. I was thinking in transfering thru firewire or even thru airport. If any of you guys know a better way please let me know. I'm specially worried about my music collection. I have over 1000 songs. Thanks for the help
oik
if both are running osx, just turn on appletalk in the network prefs. then connect them via an ethernet cable. turn on personal file sharing in the sharing prefs of the old one, and the new one should see the old one. login and drag and drop. Pilsbury
If you have a firewire cable, use firewire disc mode. It's going to be faster than ethernet and a lot faster than AirPort. Real world speeds (approx) are going to be: Firewire - circa 200Mb/s (25MB/s) 100Mbit ethernet - 70Mb/s (surprisingly) (8.75MB/s) AirPort - 4Mb/s - (0.5MB/s) http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
