The San Francisco 49ers got bad news Friday evening when a magnetic resonance imaging exam revealed quarterback Tim Rattay has a serious groin injury that may require surgery.
But..
Either way, Rattay should be ready for the season's start, according to Donahue, though he added that "Unquestionably, there's going to be a significant amount of time that's going to be involved with this injury

Doesn't look good for them at QB, none of them have that much experience, and they have very limited funds to try and get a "veteran."

We will just suck for 2-3 more years, get the #1 pick, and draft Chris Leak from Florida. He's mobile, scrambler, better passer on the run (a la Montana and Young) and has a stronger arm than Garcia ever did.

It's all in the Master Plan

You will need more then just a QB though...

very true

we need QB, RB, WR, OL, DL, DB, PK, Punter, HC, and GM.

I think the 9ers are better off becoming an expansion team since we need a new team.

Well, all I have to say to that is the Bucs, Patriots, Rams, Ravens...none of those teams were in the "elite" category before they won their Super Bowl.

That's what gets me about my fellow 49ers fans. We are spoiled and have been spoiled by huge success, much like the Packers. You cannot sustain that kind of winning, though. You have to reload, regroup and go at it again.

All my favorite teams: the 49ers, the Warriors, the Florida Gators, the Atlanta Braves...they all are on the rebuilding block. It sucks, but it has to happen.

As far as WR goes, I think are receivers will be very good. Kevan Barlow has a good chance to be a very good RB.

Are major concerns for me are QB and headcoach. Those are pretty major, though.
